You can help ensure that every child has a right to opportunities, loving support and space to build their dreams.

We are always on the lookout for new volunteers to join our cosy community! Whether it's for a bunch of hours a month or dedicating a few days to working behind-the-scenes, it all makes a difference.

Our volunteers are the heart and soul of Blessings in a Bag and we couldn’t do what we do without their enthusiasm, passion, commitment and their personal presence!

We’re proud to be the type of place where people feel like they belong, learn new skills, experience a sense of fulfilment and can make a real difference in the lives of children and their families.

Plus! It’s where many friendships are cultivated :)

Frequently Asked Questions about Volunteering

  • Do you only have regular volunteering opportunities? What if I’d like to pop in now and then?

For direct interaction with children through our sessions, we do require regular commitment from our volunteers. This is to create a safe and trusted community around children we continue to serve through the years. It becomes quite unsettling for the children to see a revolving door of new faces every week! For ad-hoc volunteer opportunities, these are typically announced through our newsletter and will include things such asks, our thrift store and one-off events/activities.

  • Can I still join BIAB if I cannot commit to six months?

We get it! Life happens - and sometimes it’s hard to plan so far in advance. We ask that the bare minimum that you commit is serving three months for direct volunteering with children.

  • Can I bring my kids or partner to volunteer with me?

If you’d like to bring a friend or partner to volunteer with you, they’ll need to go through the same volunteer onboarding process as all our other volunteers! In fact, it makes for a more meaningful relationship to be able to volunteer together a few weekends a year. Read about Kristy and Choon Kait’s volunteering journey here. For children (those under 18 years old), we accept volunteers on a case-by-case basis and you can always reach out to our team about the possibilities.

  • I love children but I do not have any experience working with children or I am introvert/shy. Can I still join this programme?

That’s totally okay! Many of our volunteers don’t have experience with children when they begin their journey with Blessings in a Bag. There will be experienced volunteers who will be happy to answer any questions you may have and can share resources and tools with you. As for introversion/shy levels - we have quite a number of them in our community who serve our program weekly! (Fun fact: Our founder is an introvert herself!)

  • Do you provide a timesheet for the number of hours we volunteered with Blessings?
We do not provide timesheets for volunteers, however, we do provide a certificate of appreciation after a minimum of 6 months have been served in our program!
